Miss USA Pageant controversy
April 20, 2009Miss California has made big news in America’s Miss USA Pageant, but for all the wrong reasons!
Carrie Prejean, the 21-year-old San Diego native, sparked a wave of anger among the gay community of America with the answer to one of her questions set by guest celebrity judge, Perez Hilton. Perez, who is the self-confessed ‘Queen of the Media’ and is known globally for his hugely successful blog, asked Carrie:
“Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalise same sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit, why or why not?”
To which Carrie replied:
“We live in a land that you can choose same-sex or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offence to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it be between a man and a woman.”
Ever since the whole uproar with Proposition 8 in America, a declaration that de-legalised gay marriage, equality for same-sex couples has been a huge topic in the American press and, in response, some states are now beginning to legalise same-sex marriages again.
Here is the video of the moment Carrie answered the question:

Her opinion is not the issue at all…as much as the gay community would like it to be.
The issue instead was of integrity. If she deflected the question like Mr. Hilton suggested she should have I think that would have been fake. She was honest, good for her.
I’m proud of Carrie. She stood up for what she believes in. We don’t have to agree with the gay agenda. If you believe in the Bible you believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. What the real issue is here is that SHE DIDN’T SAY WHAT YOU WANTED TO HEAR.
Shame on you!!!!! We still have freedom of speech in this country and I’m glad she’s been in the spotlight FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, FREEDOM OF SPEECH. May God always Bless this woman.
